It is a good book and a very good series. I think that you'll see his writing style develop through the series. I've just finished "The Monster in the Hollows," the third book in the saga, and it's very different.

I kind of miss the footnotes, which are absent from "Monster," but at the same time I think that they broke up the prose a bit.

All in all, I've enjoyed them tremendously.

Thanks for the link, by the way! I'm flattered.

I will never read anything by this author. I just read his accusation that all Christians who think God gave Israel to the Israelites are just political zionists. He asserts that God holds peace above his own promises and prophecy, stating "blessed are the peacemakers" as proof that Israel should relinquish the God-given gift to become Palestine. No other passages are taken into account . God is turned into someone that only serves Carl's purpose, and is totally defined by this 4 word phrase as if there are no other goals or attributes to be attributed to him. Where peace is a small part of God's agenda it is not supreme nor will it be reason for God to lie about promises he made or reversal of actions he makes on behalf of his children. I don't find his assertions, accurate, comprehensive, or honoring of his brothers and sisters in Christ.
